London Festival of Architecture:
green bean dance and Grimshaw

"Over at the Royal Academy of Arts, Katie Green and her students played with folding geometrical models, like wooden origami, their soft flesh and fluid moves a living counterfoil to the planes and angles of the props…I focus on these performances rather than the headline-grabbing, record-breaking massed invasions of Trafalgar Square, because they're what touched me most about Big Dance…tak[ing] dance out and about into different parts of our lives, enlivening and transforming our buildings and stairways and concourses."
Sanjoy Roy, July 2008

Embodied Energy: Surface Tension was a series of free live dance performances which took place across central London from the 11th - 20th July 2008 as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2008.

Choreographed by Katie Green in collaboration with architects from Grimshaw and third year students from The Place, the performances took place in the Royal Academy Courtyard, at Bank Junction, Carter Lane, Cheapside and Exmouth Market.

Dancers: Sarah Blanc, Lizzi Giles, Adam Kirkham, Ayanna Prevatt-Goldstein, Anwar Russell, Masumi Saito
